You’ve seen them.

Every time I see a picture of a war screen, whether it be in Ukraine or Israel, I get a sense of relief that my family does not live there.

My heart shudders when I see pictures of children in war zones.

The most innocent in any armed conflict, children often suffer the most.

And I admire those who make great efforts to help children who are victims of war.

In the crucible of World War II, an estimated 1.5 million children, mostly Jewish, were murdered by the horrors of the Holocaust.

1.5 Million! I can’t rap my head around that; that is such a staggering number!

But during those dark times, almost betting against the impossible, one man decided to make an attempt to save the children of World War II.

His name was Nicholas George. Sir Nicholas George Winton, MBE, to be exact.
